Track 404 Errors

Identify problems on your store

The first step in solving a problem is realizing you have a problem. Swerve makes this easy by tracking when 404 errors are experienced on your site.

One vital part of the 404 Tracking feature is the Swerve’s ability to find both internal 404s and external 404s. External links are easily missed by store owners and can have a big impact on your business, especially if you are using partnerships and social media to market your business. Reclaim that lost business by capturing bad external links and redirecting them to the right place.

While Google Search Console is only focused on “Index Coverage” errors (as of March 2019) – like those URLs you submitted in your sitemaps, Swerve tracks all 404 errors on your store.

Identifying the problem is not enough. Swerve makes it easy to resolve 404 errors by creating an associated 301 redirect.

With Swerve there is no need to use multiple systems to track, map and fix 404 errors. Quickly fix broken links by creating a 301 redirect right from the error itself. Point the broken link to the homepage, a product, category, web page, blog post, or brand easily without having to look up the URL.

Search 301 Redirects

Find your existing 301 redirects quickly

It is not possible to search for a specific 301 redirect in BigCommerce. To search for a redirect (if you need to edit or delete it), you currently have to sift through hundreds or thousands of items, scrolling through page after page.

Swerve’s allows you to search through thousands of redirects to find the redirect(s) you are searching for in seconds. Searching by either the old URL or the new target URL makes it as easy to find what you’re looking for. You can even search by a general term to find a redirect rather than requiring an exact-match URL.

Once you find what you are looking for, you can conveniently edit a redirect to point it at a new target or delete it if it’s no longer necessary.

Why perform the same task on multiple URLs one at a time when you could do a bunch all at once? Swerve’s Bulk Edit feature makes it easy to modify multiple redirects to target the same destination, saving you lots of time and effort.

Simply type in a search term to find which redirects meet your criteria, select those you want to modify, and choose a new target for all of them.

Need to delete several redirects at once? Bulk Delete handles that too.
